So in the early 2000's as students at the school I was working at started to use computers more, they also found ways of being annoying. One student discovered a command in the Windows CLI called 'NET SEND' and would send messages to everyone using this. They told someone else, and sooner than later every kid was sending messages. 

So I wrote some software that detected this, and from the moment they sent the message, their computer would lock with big red/yellow text on the screen alerting the teacher to what they were doing. 

It was amazing how embarrsed these kits were, and it would also write a log, so those who chose to reboot the computer and tell the teacher something was wrong with the computer to avoice them seeing the message, would still be sent to the detention room when we looked at the log each day. 

These days, we actively encourage students to collaborate, as it is a 21 Century skill. Oh how time changes..
