About this website
This website is a digital portfolio of my work. It mainly comprises of software that I have made predominately for schools in the 12+ years I have been working in them but also contains documents, advice and solutions for some of the more trickly problems I have dealt with as well.
I feel that by supporting the modern day learning environment to the best of my ability, I am giving those who are the end users the best tools to learn at the best of their ability. If by sharing my information freely with other schools, it ultimately affects positively the learning outcome of a single student then this website was worth it. The term "FreeMEG" comes from the belief in sharing information freely for the greater good. In the ICT world information is represented in data stored and measured in megabytes.
This is the beginning of my new website. From 2003-December 2010 I ran a small business called FreeMEG Computing Services, it was quite successful, but suffered greatly at the hands of the Global financial crisis in 2009. In 2010, at one stage the business was so grim that the only way it was being sustained was through supplemented income from my full time job. By September I decided to shut it down, so I could devote more time to my family and my school based projects. Quite serendipitously around the same time I was offered the position of ICT Manager at one of Brisbane’s up-and-coming private schools.
